Downtown L.A. Tour [AF3]

Highlights: A comprehensive tour highlighting the residential boom in Los Angeles. We will visit a number of properties and see model interiors in both adaptive reuse projects as well as brand new construction. At each stop a representative of the developer will tell a brief story about the design of the units. You’ll get an in-depth view of the renaissance of Downtown Los Angeles from the building of Staples Center to the opening of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angeles, Walt Disney Concert Hall, as well as the housing boom which began in 1999 with the passage of the Adaptive Reuse Ordinance by the City of Los Angeles. We will also examine all the other moving parts of the central city, including nightlife, retail, restaurants and amenities. Current development summaries, facts and figures about the market will be presented.

Come see and hear about this amazing renaissance from Hal Bastian, senior vice president and director of economic development for the Downtown Center Business Improvement District, one of the prime movers of Downtown’s revitalization. Mr. Bastian will also debrief us about Downtown’s two multibillion dollar mega projects: LA Live and the Grand Central Project.

Geographic information systems, animated 3D building fly throughs, computer assisted facilities management, self-generation of energy, automated inventory management, bulk procurement, and other innovative practices are now in the vocabulary at LACCD.
